About Us

We are women, parents, consumers, voters and much, much more and we're fed up with the "business as usual" attitude of politicians & greedy corporations. It's time for us to speak up and be heard!

Tired of the bad-news deluge?

I sure am.  In the past weeks I’ve learned about the poison in my baby’s toys, his bath soap, his formula, his bottles.  I’m tired of hearing about them, reading about them, and - above all - worrying about them.  I’m tired of watching warily as my infant son inevitably puts everything in his mouth.  And its not over.  Expect more toy recalls! we hear again and again.  And I know the hazards and chemicals are everywhere, not just in the things popular to discuss this month.

In the past weeks, I’ve come to realize more fully that we cannot expect the world to be safe for our children, yet at the same time, we cannot stop the fight to make it more safe than we found it.  If we did not face post-industrial terrors, we would face pre-industrial terrors.  And in North America at least, we live in a countries of peace.  Our children are still amongst the safest of all time.

But that is no excuse.  No excuse for government or business to turn a blind eye to injustice and health risks in the name of economy and capitalism.  No excuse for us as citizens and parents to slide along with a culture that produces more and more damage.

And that’s why we’ve come together here.  To educate ourselves together, to encourage each other, to speak up and let our voices be heard.  Please join in - how do you find peace and hope?  How do you pursue justice and health?

Tired doesn’t even begin to describe it. I feel so powerless sometimes. But you know, just last night I was talking to my husband about how much things have changed in the past seven years. When I was pregnant with my now seven year old, you could hardly find organic foods anywhere. Getting organic milk at the grocery store was HUGE! So in many ways, things are changing for the better. We just have to keep on keepin’ on and making sure we’re heard. One of the goals for this site is for it to become a place where people in power check in to see just what it is that parents are talking about and wanting from our leaders and from those who supply all our goods and services. I hope that we can combine good news and positive thinking with our outrage and demands for positive change to achieve that goal!
