Hey McDonald’s - You Just Sunk To A New Low

I thought you couldn’t get much lower than you already are, but I guess I was wrong. You are evil.

Advertising on children’s report cards?! WTF?

Who decided this was okay, that it was A GOOD IDEA?

From CCFC, December 5, 2007

Last week, students in Seminole County, Florida received their report cards in envelopes adorned with Ronald McDonald promising a free Happy Meal to students with good grades, behavior, or attendance.

“It bypasses parents and targets children directly with the message that doing well in school should be rewarded by a Happy Meal.” Susan Linn says.

I heard about this and I, too, was perturbed. The sad thing is that the school board approved it. They sold their kids out for a measly couple grand to print their report cards. (That’s what I heard on TV at least. All they got from McDonald’s was a check for the cost of the printing! They didn’t get any money beyond that. Can you believe that??)

Sheesh, what next? Ads on Channel One in the cafeteria? Oh, that’s right, they already have those.

I am so glad my kids are out of all this because they learn at home. The only report I need on them I can get from watching them grow and progress everyday.

I think that Mickey D’s may have shot themselves in the foot with this one. I’ve only seen bad PR about it.

I am SO DISTRESSED by the constant barrage of advertisements we get every day from school. Our school is TERRIBLE about it.

I have my theories and thoughts and they basically boil down (now) more to misuse of funds than underfunded. Here, at least.

This is the easy way, this selling out.

    It is troubling.

Grrr… That’s completely uncalled for. I do not like McD’s anyway, but this just puts me over the line with frustration towards them. I work really hard to introduce healthy foods to my son (11 months), and I know that when he starts school it is going to be harder and harder to get him to make healthy food choices.

How disgusting is this! Fast food chains can completley bypass parents and shove their advertisements and views down our kids throats yet there can be no mention of Christmas or religion at schools?? I’m terribly confused about the morals that we are teaching our children, and if I’m confused how are these kids supposed to figure it out? I do not agree with Mcdonalds whatsoever, but more so, who is responsible for allowing Mcdonalds to do this, surely someone at the schools had to have a say in the matter, and approve it. I would like to know why they would think this was a good idea.

I saw this and couldn’t believe it. Then again, wait. I could. Corporations run this country these days and this is just another in your face advertising ploy. It sickens me.
