   This is such a complicated issue.

   When my oldest was a baby, she got one of the mega vaxes (3 or so in one shot) and had a violent reaction that resulted in hospitalization. I began researching and learning about vaccinations. I learned the whys behind the aggressive schedule and combovaxes, and I quickly realized it did not NEED to be that way; that was about convenience.

   So i wanted things spread out and broken down. Understandably.

   My pediatrician protested.

   I didn’t want the chicken pox vaccine because I didn’t feel it had been tested adequately at the time.

   My pediatrician protested.

   I insisted.

   Do you know where we ended up?

   With my pediatrician on the telephone reporting me and my husband to CPS for NEGLECT.

   She threatened to have our baby removed from our home, from our custody.

   Over vaccinations…that I was WILLING to get, but just in a different way.

   It was a horrible and traumatic time, which thankfully my daughter has no recall of. Although they FORCED us to get the varicella vax and now she has to get boosters every couple of years! So I was right.

   Yes, we changed MDs and our new one was MUCH better and our current pediatrician supports our vax schedule.

   But I compromise, out of fear, having BTDT and have gotten vaxes I am not comfortable with.

   Not all of them are public health issues. Some are not necessary for all children, only those at risk and many are only for those under 2 only, not necessary past age 2.

   There are so many you don’t NEED to get in certain situations.

   But too many people don’t know. Too many people are undereducated about vaccinations.

   And some ARE a public health issue and that’s what gets people inflamed.

   We need to straighten out this issue and get the correct information out there…but more than that, we need to get people to listen and decide to learn. The info is out there…people just need to take the time to become educated.

   Wow! That is crazy! Did anything happen beyond switching doctors? I don’t know if there is anything you can do, actually-maybe court for slander? I bet it wouldn’t even happen, though. probably wouldn’t hold up.

   I agree with you about getting the correct information out there. There is just so much propaganda floating out in that specific sphere.

   I also read in that particular Mothering issue a snippet about the HPV vaccine (HPV linked to cervical cancer so they say), GARDASIL and its adverse effects.

   Talk about an unnecessary vaccine and more of a money maker! Not to mention marketing fear into the hearts of parents.

   The research says from June 06- August 07, 3,779 Guardasil -related ‘agitations’ have been reported. That includes EIGHT DEATHS.

   That does not need to be on the market.

   Anyway, thanks for sharing that story.

   God, both stories (the one in the post and Julie’s) are so shocking and are the exact type of thing I was referring to when I made the admittedly extreme comparison to all citizens being microchipped in my post on forced vaccinations and fluoride. One woman totally argued with me on the cross-post of that on my own blog. I’m guessing she hasn’t heard any stories like these.

   Kris, no, it ended up being much ado about nothing. As it happened it was a bluff on her part; she had nothing she could do but she scared me into something I didn’t want to do so it worked. So I had a lot of anger and fury and feelings and so forth but luckily, no family disruption.

   I’ve done a lot of posts and research about HPV and HPV vaccines. There is a severe LACK of information being broadly distributed and it’s very surprising what you learn.

   One of my HPV posts got dugg at Digg and I took some heat from people who wondered “what kind of mom doesn’t want a vaccine that protects from cancer” which tells me there is a lot of MISinformation out there still, too.

   My daughter’s elementary school has propaganda posters up about the HPV vaccine.

   I don’t prefer that. To say the least.

   And I live in the state where the governor made it MANDATORY to get the HPV vaccine. After a generous donation to him by the manufacturer of Gardasil.

   I just got my issue of Mothering and read this very article today. I just cannot believe that people are being threatened with imprisonment if they don’t vaccinate. I think that is very wrong.

   We are opting for an alternate vaccination schedule with my second son and I am opting out of some of the vaccines altogether - at least for a while. The chickenpox vaccine is one that we won’t be getting.

   I cannot believe Julie’s story! Actually, I can believe it, but it is just so shocking. What is happening to our freedoms? From what I have heard about the HPV vaccine, I would not want my child to get it and the fact that it is mandatory in some states is atrocious.

   Seems to be a case of the pharmaceutical companies, their lobbyists and fear generated by our government and managed care companies that make parents and individuals feel they don’t have control or choices. Propaganda that vaccinations benefit the whole of society are outdated and often based on insufficient data. Research is not done and it’s all guess work. I have a pediatrician who blunty told me that doctors just don’t know what harm vaccines could potentially do. I have a newborn on the way, I will not let them take away my freedom of choice or hers. My sister suffered from Autism and we only recently learned that this could be due to vaccinations. When the research is biased or incomplete and autism continues to be on the rise despite the removal of mercury in vaccines, it makes you wonder why more parents don’t take a stand and protest this issue on Washington?
